  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I carry out routine maintenance on HGV and LCV vehicles, ensuring they are road worthy to Balfour Beatty standards, which goes above and beyond legal standards for the road. I prepare vehicles for MOT tests and carry out inspections and repairs to damages and servicing.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learned how to complete repair tasks on vehicles as well as developing my communication skills within the role.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy my programme most of the time as it is a satisfying role and I play a part in gaining Balfour Beatty s overall goals.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • My programme is well structured as my college dates are sent to me in advance which allows me to plan when to complete job cards for and allows me to prepare.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I am encouraged by my employer to progress in my apprenticeship and try new activities which I would not otherwise have taken part in.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • My training provider provides plans for completing my qualification such as updating me on what topics I have still to cover and what I should focus on in the workplace.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I can relate the theory side of my role (mostly at college) to the practical side of my role (in the workplace) which allow me to gain the knowledge required before starting a new practical activity.

  • My depot hosts an annual barbecue event which is a great social event and allows you to meet others in the business who you otherwise may not have met.
