  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I am a senior caregiver and give personal care to my specific clients. I am also responsible for their shopping, meal preparation and medication. I may also have to take them to specific appointments and or take them out. Sometimes it may just be a companionship call.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • There are special training courses that you may have to take. For example as a dementia and diabetes champion I have had to do extra training in these areas.

  • You are constantly being challenged and given opportunities to learn new skills. There is no such thing as a silly question and you are encouraged to ask away.

  • Well structured and you just need to make time to push yourself to study.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • The support is there if you need it. The training manager is always available to help if you require it.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Very good and well experienced. Will help immediately when asked and helps to motivate you if you are not having a good time.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • Any type of CPD and Personal Development Plan gives you a sense of confidence and motivation. So mentally you feel better prepared to tackle issues you may encounter.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are other internal courses that are available if you are interested in. As a dementia and diabetes champion, I tend to get involved in those extra activities.

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • There is nothing that the training company will not support you with. The trainers are all experienced in the relevant areas so can give the right type of support.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Visiting Angels?
  • Just make sure they are running the correct type of training that with help you grow and improve moving forward.
