Team Leader is basically a shift manager/duty manager. We are responsible for the shift we are managing. We carry out admin tasks that are delegated by our General manager or Restaurant manager. We are also often the first point of call if a team member has a problem or a query.
Absolutely. My people skills have improved dramatically. I have learnt to treat everyone the same, yet there are ways in which people want to be treated. For example communication, different people respond in different ways to being communicated with. Some people prefer the stern approach, some people prefer the soft hand approach.
I have only just started out on it. But I am thoroughly enjoying it so far. There is a lot of content and looks like I am going to learn a lot. I have a fantastic life coach whose always available to help. The onboarding process was quick and there was plenty of communication from Lifetime about the next steps.
It seems very good. As I say, I have only just started, but the APTEM website is gold dust. It structures everything into chronological order. Be it module assignments or how my off the job training record is going. There is plenty of communication from my lifetime coach and before that the onboarding team.
HEAPS! They were the ones that put me forward for it. They make sure I am learning new things and making sure that my Personal Development Plan (PDP) is up to date and being adhered to. Nothing is a problem with them. As long as there is notice, they will make provisions for me to complete ad hoc tasks.
As already mentioned, my lifetime training coach has been superb. She was very clear in laying out what the expectations are for the apprenticeship. She is always available to reach out to and is quick to respond with a detailed answer.
It gives me more confidence as I am gaining more knowledge.
Not really. The industry we work in (Hospitality) doesnt really lend itself to social activities or the like. We are a 365 days a year business and often open 18 hours a day. Once a year we do get a chance to have a staff do and our sister site covers us and we return the favour.
