To learn and become experienced in various roles throughout the business, performing tasks that result in a positive contribution for the area I am currently working for.
Practically I have learned how to Upholster seats right from the start of the process of cutting through to making the final seat. I have learned new organizational skills, conflict management and problem solving skills as well as how to look at data to find how defects are caused in processes.
I enjoy day to day life in the role, interactions with the people around, having my own work to get on with and not being dependent on having tasks drip fed to me. Feeling trusted as a valued member of the business is a great feeling.
The college aspect has improved over the years but still isn't where it needs to be. The on site structure is great, Managers/Trainers always asking where you want to go next and structuring the plan accordingly.
My employer does their very best to make sure I have everything I need and all my worries and problems are dealt with efficiently.
My direct contact at college does their best to provide me with what I need but it seems that the disorganization comes from a higher level and my lecturer is doing their best to get everything in line for me with what they are given.
My qualification promotes foreplaning and making sure you are organized over a long project this translates to projects at work quite well, however the rest of the course doesn't really relate to work solidly.
There are many out of hours activities to get involved in, personally I am involved in a few.
