  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role as a housekeeper involves cleaning rooms ready for new guests, this is mainly stripping and remaking beds, cleaning bathroom, dusting, hoovering and sanitising, periodically I also have to do a deeper clean which involves flipping over mattresses and also some cleaning of communal areas. I also check the rooms for insect contamination.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt to manage my time effectively, also leadership and management skills and organising teams. I have spent some time on reception where I used the computer to book in and check out guests. I have also learnt what to do in case of an emergency, evacuation of guests.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy the programme because, it has multiple opportunities for job roles and growing within the company. It challenges me to extend my knowledge throughout the company. Working within a larger business helps me understand the problems that come with it. I enjoy the programme because it is simple and easy to understand.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • It is well organised and clear to understand, providing online lessons and other learning resources. The programme is structured well and is good for multiple people with different learning abilities, providing a clear instructions on what to do. The programme is set between different months and each month. You complete a certain amount of work, which helps you keep on top of the work that you do.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive extra support an extra learning because of my learning difficulties, I have monthly meetings with my learning employer which we go through my monthly tasks and objectives and set goals for the month. My learning supporter is helpful and I can contact her throughout the day seven days a week which is helpful for when I have questions about the work.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I receive a good amount of support from my training provider. My training provider provides multiple different resources for my tasks that, my training provider also provides programs and virtual lessons that help me within working towards my qualifications. Overall, I am happy with the amount of support that I have access to.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I feel that my qualification helps me to perform better because the emphasis is on learning as I go along this means that lots of things are explained to me through the training provider so I understand things better in my role within the company, overall I feel that my training provider helps me perform better within the business.

  • Within Whitbread, there are often extracurricular activities to take part in for example, social activities, such as work parties, charity fundraising events, work, meetings, and team building activities which help us work as a team and and improve staff performance, and also we do workshops that build good business relationships

  • Yes

  • I would recommend Whitbread to a friend because their salary is good, the opportunity to progress through the company is good. Staff relationships are built fast within the company. The company is knowledged and is established. The company provides different benefits to their employees and also helps out the planet with the force for good act.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Whitbread?
  • I would advise anyone to research about the company before applying. This would show the employer that you are interested in the job and the business. Also to be prepared to work hard and be flexible with the hours that you can work. I also found quite a lot of information online before I had my job interview.
