  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • The role involves supporting the teacher with planning, preparation, delivery and review of lessons for the day. It also involves ensuring the classroom environment supports learning as well as ensuring you're supporting all students in meeting their learning objectives during the session and making sure that those who need extra support recieve it.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt a lot about Special Educational Needs (SEN) and how to support children who have extra needs. I have also developed my behaviour management skills within the classroom and during social time within the school day. I have also gained added qualifications such as better reading programme which is a fantastic intervention

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I have really enjoyed the programme and found the assignments really easy to access, the resources given by LMP really supported me academically and the ability to spend time in various stages of the school has meant that I gained a varied experience of the different key stages within the school.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • It is organised well, support is planned in advance meetings are planned in advance to ensure you have time to note areas you might need support for an assignment. The assignment order flows well, and extras such as cognassist are are planned in advance to allow time to complete the tasks.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My employer was fantastic with support, offering extra training in reading interventions and phonics interventions as well as other things like first aid training, I knew my mentor was available in work if I needed any help with assignments or anything I was finding difficult whilst in the setting. They were brilliant.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • LMP offers regular meetings with the tutor, additional learning resources and are contactable should you require any support in addition to the meetings, they will support a student in a way that students feel is best for them IE this could mean phone calls meetings on teams, texts or emails.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I feel it helped me to understand my role better the reasoning behind the action so to speak. And having an indepth knowledge and understanding of my role meant that I could perform my duties better whilst within the setting. The qualification allows me to understand how my setting works and how best to support both students and teachers.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • We do hold nights where we will get together and go have something to eat socially but we also have our staff breakfast, which is really fun. It allows us to get together while in work and talk, socialise and just spend time as a team. Everyone who attends enjoys it and it makes us a happier team

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • I'd recommend to a friend because I've really enjoyed the programme and my employment setting. Its been a hugely positive experience and has given me some of the most amazing experiences within the work setting. It is organised well and supports development throughout the course and the employer was thoroughly amazing from to support to experiences offered.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Oasis Academy Broadoak?
  • Go for it. They're a fantastic company. They'll do everything possible to help you succeed within the course and support where your passion is, they will listen and try their best to tailor support to your needs throughout the duration of the course and plan the end point assessment with you to give you a great chance of passing.
