  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • As a sales apprentice, I currently cover aspects in the business such as pricing, salesforce and product knowledge in order to help the sales specialists in my team gain more opportunities and reach their yearly targets. As apprentices we also focus on our degree and the work we do contributes towards this also.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt a range of skills since starting this role. Before this role, I had no knowledge of Excel or salesforce but now since learning and completing Excel tasks, I have gained lots of knowledge in creating dashboard and spreadsheets for the specialists in our team to help them.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • It is quite enjoyable interacting with other apprentices and graduates in the office and allows us to all learn effectively. I also find it enjoyable to learn different skills which can help me for now and for the future which is very useful now and going forward which is good.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I would say it is quite structured in terms of university so we have a set degree program with different modules at certain points, with work there is a lot of changes in the organisation so some things at work are all over the place which is very useful for me

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • In terms of early careers, we had a bit of support at the start however as time as gone as an apprentice I haven't had much guidance on anything, but I haven't really needed any support so far so it hasn't been needed that much for me.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • We have meetings infrequently sometimes, however we do have workshops at the start of each workshop to go through any questions or concerns which is helpful. As well as that, we have tripartite reviews to discuss through our goals and our progress also which is good help for our assingments.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • It is important because what I do in my role is linked to our university studies and degree and my manager is very helpful with this. The motivation of getting a degree as well is important as it allows me to perform better in my job role going forward in the future.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • I think there are a number of sports teams and social activities, it is a bit difficult as I don't actually live in Bristol to participate in any of this however I have heard from others that the activities are really good and interactive between everyone at work which is good.

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • I would recommend BT to a friend as it is a very friendly and happy place to work at. There are lots of opportunities to grow and progress within the company which is very motivating and there is a widen rage of areas in the business to get involved in also.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BT Group?
  • I would make sure that you are confident in speaking to people and are motivated to get involved in lots of different areas and projects. I would make sure that you are committed to work and are committed to having a good balance of work and personal life which is good.
