As a software developer, I work as part of a team to create programs which will be used by staff within the company. My team specifically focuses on creating programs to aid the Virtual Desktop Infrastructure at BP.
I have developed my existing software development skills as well as learning programming languages I have never used, such as C# and PowerShell. I have also learnt how to collaborate as a team when creating code by regularly submitting code to the team's shared repository.
I thoroughly enjoy being an apprentice at BP. The member of team are all very friendly and helpful as well as the staff from surrounding teams. The other members of the early careers cohort are also very friendly and make the program more enjoyable.
BP has a very well organised early careers cohort, there are always members of staff offering support to the apprentices and regularly scheduling events for us to meet up.
I always receive a lot of support from members of my team as they take time out of their day to teach me new skills and explain how certain things are done.
My training provider always offers support during our classes, however they do not offer much support outside of these classes.
My qualification helps me in my role however I believe the skills I learn through my daily role are much more useful.
There are socials for all early careers members organised every month
Yes
The company always offer lots of support to all of the apprentice and the members of staff around me are always willing to explain things to me and teach me new skills
I would recommend asking for help as much as possible and always be honest if there is something you are unsure of or do not understand.
