It was a very insightful work experience week very accommodating for someone who has no knowledge of the commercial risk industry. I felt as though I had finished the work experience week with lots of useful knowledge and a more in depth and broader commercial awareness.
I develop my commercial awareness about the growing risks that come with the vast innovative solutions and technologies that industries and companies are adopting such as ESG risks and concerns on cyber security. Overall it was fairly character building with support and advice on CVs, networking and interviews which I thought was a perfect balance between the career and educational world.
I enjoyed the work experience specifically the in person days although the online events were also insightful I found the in person days more interesting as they were more interactive. Overall I enjoyed working with most of the staff as they were friendly and helpful and in most cases the other participants were friendly and welcoming.
The work experience was very efficient especially the online events as they didn't run over and were nicely spaced out with regular breaks and the activities were perfectly timed to ensure that we remained engaged. The in person days also ensures there were enough breaks and even made arrangements for a mini tour and prayers where necessary.
I learn a lot about he companies culture as it was embedded In all the activities and days and embodied by all their staff. The company as a whole was very welcoming, accommodating and diverse to show their non discrimination and celebration of people from all backgrounds beliefs and genders.
It did not specifically change my current career goal but it did open my eye open to the fact that many industries and companies have a role for pretty much everyone as there is a array of different roles in each of those companies.
This work experience was not paid however we were reimbursed on all our travel expenses.
Yes there was a whole section dedicated to networking with the Aon staff and with an opportunity to talk to good array of their staff and grab their emails and their linked in
Yes
It was an enjoyable and insightful experience that was very accommodating to all people of all backgrounds and interests.
Just show your passion for working in a commercial risk firm like Aon and what values they have that resonate with you and show why you would fit in.
