  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I am currently training and working towards gaining my level 3 qualification, my daily role is ensuring children are safe and well when attending the setting, safeguarding is paramount! We set to a daily routine, we ensure the children are fed healthy meals throughout the day, they are always hydrated, they are having a nap (I work in babies) as well as setting up many activities that aid all 7 areas of learning whilst ensuring they are having as much fun as possible!

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learned so many new skills since staring at benison, I am now fully aware how to work iconnect (the app we use to communicate with parents) as well as conducting daily/weekly risk assessments, I am also well practised when it comes to accident and medication forms as well as being able to communicate with parents.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I absolutely love my programme and I really am enjoying the learning, when it comes to my assessment writing I am learning all of the time, I am conducting so much research and the webinars provided are great, I really enjoy learning new things and use my new knowledge in daily practise constantly!

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • My programme has a great structure. I am given a set amount of time for each assessment which is clear to understands, with all questions I am to complete labelled, my tutor is always available to contact if I’m struggling with a specific area which is great! We have monthly zoom meetings to track my progress which again is super helpful.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive so much support from my employer, they are constantly giving me extra training to gain my knowledge as well as providing 4 hours out of the room weekly to complete my assessments and conduct my research which is really helpful! All of my colleagues/ management are also really helpful and support me and my learning!

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I receive lots of support from my training provider, as previously mentioned my tutor is always easily contactable if I happen to be struggling with a specific question/topic, as well as booking me onto regular webinars to broaden my knowledge for my next set assessment. We also gave monthly reviews which is a great asset.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I feel like I am constantly putting what I learn in my qualification into daily practise, the more I learn the better! I am now fully aware of everything safeguarding as well as great activity ideas that are both enjoyable and will aid the children’s development, I understand the importance of risk assessments as well as reporting any accidents/injuries that may occur.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • We partake in regular training outside of work hours such as first aid courses and food hygiene courses! We are going to be hosting a fund raiser to raise money for children’s hospices which is a great extra curricular activity all for an amazing cause. We often socialise out of work as a team also.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Benison Day Nursery to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • Since starting at Benison I have just learned so much whilst on the job as well as making great friends on my colleagues! My 23 month old also attends the toddler room and is thriving! My training provider is also very supportive and provides me with great recourses in order to complete my assessments in order to gain my level 3 qualification.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Benison Day Nursery?
  • Just to be open to completing the child care courses, I didn’t realise just how much there was to learn upon starting in childcare but it’s so interesting and I’m absolutely loving every minute of it, also the staff at Benison whom in which I work with are amazing, the most lovely bunch who go above and beyond in order to help me along with my qualification, if your considering it, go for it.
