Design work for substations on primary and secondary - day to day involves working on projects with more experienced engineers from tenders to full contracts, trainings and college work are also a large part of the apprenticeship. Responsibilities include helping within projects where necessary to ensuring trainings are complete as well as college work.
In new skills i have learnt are job specific such as the use of autocad in which is a large part of my job with the use of both auto and raster cad. further more Knowledge on electrical design and electrical principles has been a large part of the first year
I enjoy the job to a good amount, As much as one can with a job. the work is challenging and different a lot of days. The support is good so it allows me to progress my work and my colleagues are friendly and supportive. Overall to a good amount
To a okay amount, A okay amount of training given straight away to allow you to get involved within the job. Was slow at first but picked up speed and became more organised and more support given. College side was organised and ready from day 1. work side a bit slower
To a large extent. all people within the company and friendly and welcoming and had no issue with the employer so far. No real issues with employer and has been a good. Overall well giving advice and support on the job role. No complaints at all and overall happy with the support
in terms of college i would say a okay amount, i find it difficult to contact some of the college for support or queries. within the company has been okay as well with a sufficient amount of training helping to go towards my final qualification requirements. Overall not to bad
Some of it links towards my final qualification and some more to my job role but over all it has been 50 / 50 at the moment with some of it seeming futile and not needed for the job role but is still part of the course anyway. overall about 50 /50
Some amount of office social activities are not hosted and par from that there is no other real extra curricular activities been hosted within the job to my knowledge. not something i am going to complain at as i would not be interested myself so not a issue for me
Yes
i have done it in the past as i feel its a good working environment and is a good enough job. I don't mind working for Balfour and at the end of the day get paid at the same time so i would recommend it to a friend at the end of the day.
be honest the interview stage is not long and just try your best and don't just apply for one role or company but many as well as if you don't get the original one you still have options to pick from is the first or second dont work.
