  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role involves running payroll for clients who chose to employ carers in their own home. This involves processing end to end payroll and in my senior side of the role I provide training and support to the rest of the team. Alongside this there is pension training, cross training and many other aspects that have built on to my role throughout the years.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I am consistently building on my skills, within my area (payroll) and across other teams to become cross trained. This involves getting hands on experience with finance, auditing and even within banking. As well as these main skills I feel my customer service skill shave developed largely due to the amount of customer interaction we get within the role.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I love the programme I am on. I have wanted to do my AAT course for a very long time now and when the opportunity was offered to me I could not refuse. The training provider was selected for me and they have been amazing throughout the experience. I feel I am always learning something new and being challenged.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Unfortunately there was a few hiccups at the start due to us having to change Syllabus but this was handled very well by Paragon and a strong plan put in place to get us back on track to where we should be in the new curriculum. We have then faced a tutor change which Paragon handled very well, transitioned through the process well and have gotten back on track.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My employer supports me with time out of my role to enable me to do the course. Also when starting a new topic my employer keeps up to date with where I am so they have offer experience in this topic within the work environment. There is times when it is difficult to get that time to complete certain aspects due to a busy workload but my employer will always try to get as much time as possible for me to complete coursework.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Paragon have been excellent, from the weekly classes to progress meetings. They have been there every step of the way, they answer all my questions, calm my worries and are always there to support. When doing revision if I ever come across something I have struggled on I will email my tutor and they will always come back to me.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • Unfortunately the AAT does not impact my direct role within Payroll but I have been assisting finance and this course helps massively with that. I feel that through my AAT I have learnt knowledge and skills which help me understand why I am doing things in the way I am. For example why invoices have be logged in a certain way etc.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Unfortunately Enham do not offer much in the way of this. We are a smaller company and have great benefits and a great work environment but unfortunately since Covid I do feel that the 'family' feel of the company has been lost and the overall activities that we use to do as a company have become of lesser importance.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Enham Trust to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • Overall Enham is a great place to work for, they care for their staff, there is room to grow, they give you opportunities that you may not get in other positions in other companies. They have great benefits and do make you feel like part of a team. The overall values at Enham are ones that I feel strongly about and I feel this lends towards my passion for the company.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Enham Trust?
  • Be yourself, be honest and be up front about what you are looking for. Enham offer so many opportunities and even if you do not have the experience for the role you are applying for, show your passion for the role, tell them what you want to achieve and Enham will support you in doing that.
