Being in the final year of my apprenticeship I’m given more freedom with the work that I do, I will be given jobs to complete by myself but there’s all way support from others if needed. One day a week I attend college to help sharpen my knowledge and work towards getting me my qualification.
Yes I’m constantly learning every single day, not only does this help me become better at doing my job but it also helps in real life. It makes me more confident knowing you can give anything a try, even if it doesn’t work out the apprenticeship has taught me to give it a go.
I do enjoy the programme, I think its important that you enjoy where you work and I feel like I can say that I coming to work. And I look forward completing my apprenticeship and starting working there as a technician. There’s a great work life balance and I get on with all my colleagues.
I believe its very well structured. The first year is entirely college, this not only gives you a good base knowledge for the things you’ll be doing but its great for letting you get to know the other apprentices on the program. The next few years you only go to college 1 day a week and the rest you get to work with the engineers learning on the job.
I think I get the perfect amount of support. I have regular meetings with my apprenticeship manager that I can discuss anything with, suggest new ideas, review my progress and receive any assistance or help I need. We have lots of training too which helps support me in my job role.
I also agree I am supported with working towards my qualifications. Any help I feel like I can ask for it. We are given lots of support material as well as everything I do in my day to day supports what I need for my college work and in turn helps get closer to becoming qualified.
Everything I learn from college I can apply to my job, not only to I gain more knowledge but I also learn valuable practical skills as college give a good balance of theory and practical learning. I also feel it helps tie up any loose ends you my can and fills in any blanks in you knowledge you may have.
There are always things to get involved with, probably the most notable is the Outward bound course you get put on every year of your apprenticeship. It gives every apprentice the chance to meet up and do team building exercises for a week. These are held in places like the Lake District where you do things like raft building and hiking.
Yes
Enjoyable apprenticeship, that teaches how to be a great technician in the best way possible by working along with lots of experienced colleagues. You get to work on a big variety of equipment which keeps everyday different. Shift work gives good work life balance in my opinion and I think the pay is good too.
You don’t need big qualifications, as long as you have passed you maths and English. What matters more is a passion shown through any projects you may have done, small or big if you show that you’re interested and have evidence to show I think that means more.
