  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • My role at Greene King is extremely fast paced and one of the skills I have gone tuned in this role is being able to focus on what is really important. Also sitting within a small friendly, knowledgable HR team has opened up my exposure to the whole employee lifecycle

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • It is only my second month on programme so it is old still very new to me. I really enjoyed the skills day and getting to meet new people from different businesses. I am also enjoying the experience of challenging myself to learn again after being in a specialist field for so long.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme appears to be well organised and the structure is clear. Events have been well organised with clear communication. The slight negative so far is that we have not yet been appointed a tutor and have had a series of stand ins, understand this is just one of those things but comms around it could have been clearer

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My manager is hugely encouraging and supportive of me taking part in the apprentice programme. She actively encourages me to carve out the time and has given me tips on how to get exposure to new areas. I am also lucky to work within a knowledgeable team that are on hand to provide advice and share their experience.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • As per the answer to question 4, I know there is help there but I am not 100% sure who to go to for this. I am sure if the situation arises I will be able to locate support. I am looking forward to having a tutor to be point of contact and building a relationship with them

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • As I am only on my first model it’s really hard to say at this point. Having been a recruitment specialist for such a long time I am certain gaining a further of breadth of understanding will be beneficial. I also think that I will learn better project management and time management.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • No there isn’t really anything as such. I am the Macmillan fundraising lead for my team which means I get involved with other teams around the business to arrange fundraising activities. Some might be as small as a cake sale but another time I led on arranging a hike in the Brecon beacons

  • 9a. Would you recommend Greene King to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • My experience so far of working at Greene king has been very positive. The part of the business I support is 850 people so I really enjoy being able to see the output of my actions. My work life balance also hugely benefits from the company’s agile working policy

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Greene King?
  • I always remind people any recruitment process is a two way street! It’s as much about you deciding if the company is right for you. Department are all very different but I think if you are prepared to work hard, can cope with a bit of ambiguity and are resilient then you will thrive here.
