Solicitor Apprentice Review

I undertake a range of activities, which can include project-based work or practical work. My project-based work will usually involve researching a particular area of legislation and then advising on the company's compliance with the legislation, whereas my practical work will vary depending on the team I am in.

I have developed my communication skills, through interacting with customers, suppliers, as well as other colleagues. I have also learnt how to draft defences, as well as research documents, whilst making sure that my work is accessible and easy to understand for the intended audience. I am sure that whilst I continue to gain experience in different teams, additional skills will also be developed.

I enjoy my programme greatly as it is a good balance between studying and working. Additionally, my workplace is very understanding of the fact that I also attend university and have certain tasks to complete and will allow me to complete some of my university work whilst I am working.

My study day is on a Friday, which is particularly useful as if any work is not completed, I have the weekend straight after to complete any additional work. We also have live tutor sessions every 3-4 weeks. Despite this being during my working hours, I am still allowed to attend the sessions and ask any questions I may have.

My employer is very supportive of me during the programme. They ensure that I undertake a variety of work and will listen to any feedback you may have and will ensure that they act upon such feedback. Furthermore, many people that I talk to within the business are very interested about my programme and will ask questions about it to gain a further understanding of what I do.

The support from my provider is good. I have my skills coach who is very helpful and is always on hand whenever I have any queries. We also receive feedback on any assignments we complete, as well as live tutor sessions, which enable us to ask any questions we may have on our current module.

I often see how what I have learnt in my degree is applicable to my day to day work life, particularly in regards to how certain legislation is applicable to the company. Vice versa, there are also instances where I have learnt something through work and will come across this is in my university tasks.

We have a company wide intranet, which will post regular updates on developments within the company. There is also a wide range of networking events and groups available on the intranet, who will regularly arrange events together. The early talent team are also in regular contact with all the apprentices, and have created a teams channel to update us on anything relevant to us.

I feel that the support provided by TUI is very helpful, and each team I have been in has treated me as any other member of the team. It is a very inclusive environment, which will make you feel included. The work-life balance is very healthy and you are rarely asked to work more than your designated working hours.

I would suggest you be yourself and be authentic, as this is what TUI is looking for. Don't be afraid to go out of your comfort zone, as this shows a willingness to grow and learn. Also, ensure that you can provide example of how you are trusted, unique and inspiring.
