  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role includes; informing schools on student's attendances, keeping track of students arrival time at centre and upgrading spreadsheets with the correct data and information. I've also created a document which is directed at the parents/carers of the young people, this includes their behaviour, their experience at centre and a weekly report.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have developed more computer skills, along the lines of; creating spreadsheets on Excel, completing a useful Word document and experimenting with PowerPoint more on a daily basis.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy working with our young people and getting to know them on a personal level, we have new students attending at any time and this I personally like as I get to interact with more people, who come from different backgrounds.

  • In my opinion I would say that my programme is very well organised and everyone knows what their correct role is.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive a good amount of support from my employers, they both help and advise me as much as they possibly can, with training and how to improve on any areas.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I receive great support from my training provider, she is extremely supportive with my work and improving my skills and knowledge.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I feel that the qualification helps me to perform better as I've leant new strategies that I put into place daily as well as checking in and offering any advice that she can or if I have any questions or queries I know I have a great support system.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • We provided an additional needs event, every week, in which I attend when I'm needed. For example if a staff member is ill, I'll be asked if I could attend in their place. This is a great way to socialise with other people in your town.

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • I would recommend my company to a friend, because, the hours are very suitable and flexible, training in the correct sections are provided therefore knowledge will improve. You would get to meet young people from all different backgrounds and learn new things from them, for example a different language.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Phoenix Community and Youth Project, Southport?
  • I would advice you that we work with vulnerable pre teens and post teens, therefore being calm and nurturing should come naturally to you. If you want to see improvements in overs education or personal lives then this company would be great for you.
