I am a team leader and my day to day role involves running shifts, delegating jobs to staff members. Managing issues on shift with customers, ensuring consistent customer service. Communicating with both team and management staff to ensure a smooth shift for all. Serving customers on the bar and offering table service in the restaurant
Yes. I have learnt how to confidently manage conflict within the team as well as how to manage difficult team members. I have also learnt different management styles and skills that I am confident I will use going forward in the rest of my career within hospitality and can recognise my own management style and when to change it dependant on the situation
I very much enjoy my programme. Although I do find the virtual classrooms a little boring and would prefer them to be a little bit more interactive than they are. I enjoy the fact I can work through the modules at my own pace and can do extra work ser in the virtual classrooms.
I have found some of the programme to be very well structured in the case of units and how they split into easy to navigate modules on Aptem. However not having a consistent learning coach has made some aspects of my training difficult. I have much more confidence now I have a new trainer and he has offered his support up until my epa
I have a lot of support from my employer. Not just my general manager but the assistant manager as well as the kitchen manager and other team leaders. I feel very well supported and encouraged from everyone in completing my programme. It helps having support from a variety of people as when one person does not have the answer another does.
The support I have had has varied. I have had 5 plus trainers since starting my qualification and the support has varied from each trainer to the next. However I am feeling very confident that my new trainer will be able to give me the support I need leading up to EPA
I feel my qualification helps me perform better in my role by allowing me to learn new skills behaviour and knowledge. These things help me perform better as they givee a better understanding of what is expected of me as a team leader and what my team expect of me
There are many extra curricular groups to get involved with within Greene king. On the kingdom social page there are many sub groups to join such as LGBTQ groups, women in management, disability awareness groups Macmillan fundraising and others. These are open to anyone to join and help us to be more involved in the Greene king family
Yes
The management are very understanding and helpful. Work life balance is much better than in previous jobs I have had. There are many progression and education opportunities within the business. Such as apprenticeships or the online learning platform TAP which covers many things applicable to my job role and for career progression
My tips and advice would be to be yourself when applying, don't try to be someone you're not as we embrace individuality. If you are wanting to progress up within hospitality Greene King is a beneficial company to apply for as they invest in their staff and want everyone to succeed
