Audit Accountant in external assurance. Daily role is between audit client work, colleague and client meetings and communication throughout. I will tend to start my day with admin organising who i need to speak to that day and what i need to prepare, then action each point throughout the day.
Several new skills on the job throughout my apprenticeship and working to become a more qualified auditor. This has developed me throughout the key skills being communication, being able to confidently communicate between each level of person and methods, but also my technical financial skill set to apply to my work practice.
I would say the extent that i enjoy my programme is a high level, being that i have had no bad experiences or actions to note, all my colleagues and clients have been very nice to get a long with and developmental throughout my apprenticeship to become a qualified accountant
The prgramme of which i am on, working at BDO under BPP/ICAEW is well organised in that all slots for revision and apprenticeship activities are booked in timely, given adequate time to complete these and support throughout if any adverse occasions or events come up which means we have to work around these
I receive a great level of support from my employer, this extends from just working practices, through to technical ability and apprenticeship modules. Within this is support for outside of exam apprenticeship activities such as EPA and S&Bs, but also adequate time and support with my studies to ensure i do the best i can
From the training provider which is BPP i receive a good level of support, this is in many different forms throughout such as during my exam periods online classes and emails to ask questions, but also when we get closer to exams we have in class taught revision sessions to attend.
I feel tat my qualification, through BPP as a provider, does help me to perform better in my role, the main aspect of this is learning content applicable to my role from the examination papers, I do not feel that the additional activities benefit the practice in remotely the same level
there are several extra curricular activates at my place of work and with the people i work with, these include away trips to play football abroad, Monday night football each week with a big group of colleagues, but also SCASS networking events which are commonly organised and attended by staff
Yes
BDO is a great place to work and i can confidently say i would suggest BDO to work for any person. there is a great culture throughout with great support and ability to progress. BDO provides a great daily place of work to spend our time, but also develop ourselves to become better accountants.
I would give the tips and advise of firstly to be yourself as BDO is an inclusive company looking for individuality and accepting of all different people. Also, to have a key drive to become a better accountant and person within your personal and professional life which is aided by the working practices of BDO.
