I am involved with mostly administrative tasks. I work on several clients and I correspond with brokers and claims handlers on a daily basis to update claims. I also am involved in the renewals as well as board meetings.
I get to see various areas of an insurance company which has been great for my learning. I have learned business language as well as the fundamentals of claims handling, risk management and underwriting. This role has greatly improved my organisational skills and many others.
I have enjoyed the programme's material but the pathways are very specific and there is more than three roles in insurance and most of the content is not relevant to my day job.
I believe the programme is well structured however, I have had three coaches and have therefore suffered a lot of disruption and not been able to stick to this structure. I think this is more of an issue with the learning provider than the programme itself.
My employer has always allowed me to put time aside for my apprenticeship and has allowed me to take study days for my exams etc. Any questions I have are always answered.
I have had a poor experience with my training provider. I have had three different coaches. I find my questions and submissions are often left for days and sometimes weeks without reply and this caused my apprenticeship to drag on.
I have learned a lot about the wider insurance world through the programme which has been great learning. The OTJ hours also caused me to look at many different areas that are not to do with my day job but I find interesting.
My office, although it is small, tends to have a social activity every month. As part of a wider 2021 Aon apprentices cohort we have also had internal projects that have led to great networking and events.
Yes
I believe I am valued at Aon and have experienced much more than I would have expected in my first 18 months.
Be professional, organised and willing to learn.
