My role at Aon is offering essential day-to-day support for a range of activities whilst also offering administrative support. Each day is really different and may consist of market reform contract creation, creating endorsements, invoicing our clients or setting up new clients or underwriters. It is basically supporting our brokers from initial engagement until the end of a policy.
Since joining Aon I really feel I have developed lots of skills and learnt new ones. One skill I believe I have really developed is my communication as I have become a lot more vocal and confident when dealing with clients or underwriters and those in higher roles within the organisation.
I feel I enjoyed the programme the most at the beginning when I was learning lots of new information and now I feel more competent that has been a benefit. It has become a lot more easier than at the start where it was more complex with the information overload.
I think the programme is definitely structured well with the two initial exams followed by the end point assessment and final exam, however I think some of the content is a bit meaningless to the course and more centred around what you would learn at school or college like British Values etc.
Aon offers great support with opportunities to connect with previous apprentices and being able to communicate with other apprentices across the country regarding the apprenticeship which has allowed me to see how others are getting on. They also put in place workshops for learning and our early careers team have been supportive when there has been issues or questions asked.
Davies Learning Solutions was really supportive at the beginning of the apprenticeship and allowed me to settle in well and ask all the questions. However since my coach left I was allocated with a new coach who clearly wasn't able to manage the workload and the support has decreased.
I think the qualification has really helped me get my foot into insurance and understand how it works. The qualification covers various topics and is really informative which has supported me to do a better job. I definitely think a lot of what I learn comes up in my day to day.
Yes there are plenty of extra curricular activities to get involved in at Aon. I have attended several networking events which have helped me learn much more about the industry and meet great people. I also am planning to join the Aon football team later in the year for the new season.
Yes
Aon has been a very welcoming company to join and I've really developed since joining. I have met lots of people from across the business and this has really put in perspective how many opportunities they are. The apprenticeship programme has lots of others apprentice and therefore is a great place to learn.
The advice I would give to anyone applying at Aon is to research what Aon does as a company they are various sectors and therefore finding the right one for you is important. Also look into the insurance market it is very complex so having some insight is very helpful.
