My role is to check customers in and board flight’s ensuring rules and regulations are met, and also man the lounge, and work at connections, and also host at various positions around the terminal. I have to give plenty of customer service to passengers and rectify any problems or delays they might have.
I have learnt a lot of communication skills and problem solving skills. I have also learned how to handle people who are being disruptive and annoying. Skills I have developed are technical skills which include proficiency in using certain computer systems. Other skills include, team work and leadership when it is a busy day.
I really enjoy my program as I do feel cared for and I often feel the satisfaction of my job when I clear a busy queue of angry passengers when their flights are delayed or cancelled. There are times when I feel stressed and don’t enjoy my job because of rude passengers.
It is somewhat well organised as we get 2 monthly study days but they are actioned quite randomly without asking us so we kind of have to deal with it.
Quite a lot of support if I needed it.
