  • I support the support the implementation of the overall HR Strategy and lead the delivery of appropriate people activities to meet targets and improve performance across my business area. I also get involved in multiple projects which support business or people improvements.

  • Absolutely! I have been exposed to other ways of working and through meeting other delegates, have been able to network with like minded individuals.

  • I chose the provider I did as they offered distance learning. This suited my work and home life. As a result, I was happy with the programme as it suited my needs

  • Excellent - I received a structured timetable, had regular sessions with the course tutor and was able to manage my time accordingly.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Balfour Beatty offered excellent support - for me that is key when doing an apprenticeship as you need to ensure you can be exposed to the relevant learning in order to complete the standards.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Excellent - I received a structured timetable, had regular sessions with the course tutor and was able to manage my time accordingly.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • When I was near completion of the programme I received a promotion into the HR BP role which was where I wanted to take my career. I feel the course really accelerated my learning and helped me to achieve this.

  • I attend networking events and we have a great social team across each of our main offices who regularly organise activities.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Balfour Beatty?
  • Don't worry if you don't have much work experience to draw from, the interviewer will be happy to hear examples of what you've achieved in your school / college / personal life. Research the role, be yourself at the interview, come well presented and have a few questions of your own for the interviewer!
