I am the facilitator between the directorate for adults and communities and the data and insight team. I proactively work with the senior leadership team, heads of service and team managers to drive improvements in how data and insights are used across the teams to drive improvement and provide fit for purpose services.
I have learnt a lot of new skills within strategic management and strategic thinking and this has benefited this job role. I have also developed my project management skills and feel able I have the tool kit to manage a project and manage the risks. I have also developed my knowledge of sales and marketing and managing and leading people.
I have really enjoyed the programme and loved learning. I have learnt to manage my time more effectively which has removed some of the pressure as I have progressed through and added to my enjoyment. The course and assignment structure allows you to learn and then implement this learning to my role.
Overall the course was structure ok, there needs to be consistency in the support by module. Each module was laid out different on the university site and so it was difficult to quickly access what you needed at times. However we were given our deadlines and course uni dates with plenty of warning. Although it didn't affect me, some thought should be given to having lectures in school holidays as some have childcare responsibilities
I moved organisation in September and both employers (Bolton and Kirklees Councils ) have been exceptionally supportive. My current manager is supporting me to progress to a PG DIP and looking at where I can implement my new learnings and embed them into my role. My manager is always on hand for support when needed.
The support from the University has been fantastic, it is a predominately self led course but the tutors and skills coaches are on hand should you need it and you can jump on a teams call for advice or email them and they will always respond to you and help.
Doing this qualification has allowed me to progress into a more strategic role in a different organisation. I wouldn't have had the knowledge or skills to do that without the help of this course. It has also provided me with much needed clarity about the direction of my professional career.
Yes Kirklees council has many professional networks and social activities for me to get involved in. Being new to the Council I haven't joined any as yet but there is certainly a wealth of extra curricular activities available. Also lots of training opportunities, in person, online or self led courses.
Yes
I have had the most excellent experience and opportunities doing this degree. I have made friends for life and it has given me so much value to my career and given me confidence. It has been very hard at times but I have enjoyed it all and I hope to continue my learning with MMU
Speak to the apprenticeship team, they will give you good advice and can help. Speak to others who have done the qualification and don't underestimate the work involved but the rewards can be endless. I have had a really great 2.5 years and will be sad to fnish
