  • I design models and produce engineering drawings for gas stand test cell components. This includes pipework, brackets, fixtures for machines and test parts. I also organize contractor work for pipework insulation and fabrications

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • Cummins gives you the opportunity to improve as a person and an engineer. I'm trusted to work autonomously and feel apart of a team and have many experienced and accomplished engineers that i can ask for help.

  • very well organised

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I'm in an office surrounded by experienced engineers who i can ask for help, also colleagues from different teams within the organization are always willing to help if required. I am allowed the appropriate time to complete work and any work associated with my apprenticeship.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • All the tutors are willing to help and explain what is required well.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • For me and my role, Appris has provided the basic foundation of engineering. This role is very specific towards gas stand testing and at Appris we have only touched on basic concepts that can be tied back to this role.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are regular networking events covering a wide range of things and nice team events such as Christmas Breakfast. My team also goes for a Christmas meal together.

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • The working conditions are really good and the managers seem to care more for personal development and wellbeing rather than results driven. In general the working conditions and opportunity to progress in to a role you enjoy makes this a great place to work.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Cummins?
  • Show an interest in whichever business group you are applying for. Show willingness to progress. Ask about training opportunities. Show how you can or have been customer orientated.
