I am a Maintenance Helpdesk Advisor within the Estates Team. My job includes logging repairs for the pubs and seeing them through to completion. I have daily interactions with a variety of people from Pub managers to members of the public. We are responsible for the day to day maintenance of around 1600 pubs within the estate.
I feel that I have developed my customer service skills through the apprenticeship, it has showed me how to become more empathetic to the customers needs and concerns and ensure that i provide the best service i can all of the time. I have also learnt leadership skills, it has shown me the most effective ways to help my colleagues.
I am really enjoying the apprenticeship thus far, it comes with its challenges but overall i am learning a lot, not only about customer service but also about myself. I enjoy the variety of tasks and the mixture of reading and videos which support my learning. I feel that the course offers a varied scope of subjects.
The programme is well structured and organised. the layout of the user platform is very good, it is easy to use and clear on what modules are about and when they need to be completed by. It offers a lot of feedback on your progress which enables you to keep track of the course easily.
My employer is very supportive. I am able to speak to a variety of people regarding my course, ranging from my manager to other apprentices within the organization. I know that my manager will help me with my course whenever required and I feel well supported within my team also.
My coach is very supportive. We have regular meetings and catch ups to discuss my progress as well as any issues I am experiencing within the course. He is easy to contact and i know that if i have any queries in between meetings, that he will be quick to respond and help.
I feel that my course has a direct correlation to my role. My role is very customer service orientated so all new skills that i have learnt, i have been trying to implement in to my role as soon as possible. I feel that it has had such a positive impact on the way i work and my effectiveness within my role.
We have a variety of groups and committees within my workplace from social committees to workplace support groups. They are easy to get in contact with, to engage with and to also get involved with. We have an in house social media which allows everyone to keep up to date with what each group is doing.

Marstons is a great place to work. It feels like a family, especially the team which i work in. Everyone is so supportive and friendly that it does not feel like a chore to go to work. People are easy to meet and it is easy to strike up conversations with new people.
Marstons are interested in people so just be yourself, if a job comes up which you like, go for it and try to get yourself across in the application in the best way. Do your research, have a look in to the company and its history to show the interviewing panel that you know about the company and have an interest in it. Marstons has a very rich history so it is always good to be able to show that you know about it.
