  • Get involved in client fact gathering workshops and following this we carry out economic analysis to support the intercompany transactions of Group companies.

  • I have developed my minute taking skills, my communications skills and my understanding of technical concepts in accounting and tax.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I thoroughly enjoy the job itself and the team which I am apart of, however the apprentership programme itself could be better developed.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • In terms of on the job learning the programme is relatively new and informal, sessions are often planned and then rescheduled. But we do receive lots of ad hoc support.

  • A relatively okay amount, however this can be somewhat sporadic.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Not as much as I would like, more clarity on what is required of us would be appreciated.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • Not at all to be honest, as much of what is included in the qualification is not strictly relevant to my day to day role.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are lots of sports activities, and some social and networking activities. However the amount of these is reducing and are more sporadic than they used to be.

  • Yes

  • The people you can work with and learn from.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BDO?
  • Try to contact someone who works for the firm ahead of applying and try to gain as much knowledge from them as possible.
