IT audit. Supporting the audit team by assessing the audited entity's IT/cyber control environment by enquiry, evidence collection, assessing access administration, change management, data processing management and their cyber environment. If we pass the system due to good controls, it reduces the workload of the audit team.
Learned about IT environments, applications, databases, testing controls, professional scepticism, leading meetings, communicating findings
I enjoy my programme as I have learned so much both on the job and through ACA exams. I get a lot of study support by going into college and having study leave. Managers are supportive when exams are near and there are lots of other grads my age.
It is fairly well organised but as my team is based in London and I am in a regional office I do not get many updates about study leave and find out from the London grads. One issue with the structure is sitting 3 professional level exams at once.
I get a lot of time in college and for at home study which definitely helps. People are generally helpful when you have upcoming exams to reduce your workload. There are wellbeing initiatives and people to reach out to if you are stressed.
They are quite helpful and you can email tutors/ask questions on the forum if you are not in a taught phase and need help with a question
My qualification is not that relevant to my role but it has helped me develop analytical thinking and writing more concisely.
There are lots of social activities and sports teams but it varies between location and department. In my location/department we have social activities but no sports teams. There are groups you can join that connect people from different departments and locations for certain causes
Yes
I like BDO because I am getting good training and experience, a lot of study leave as some firms get very minimal, and the culture is very open and friendly. As a first job it is not intimidating and there is open communication with partners/managers
Don't try too hard in the interview, just be yourself. You are not expected to have technical knowledge, they just want to see you have some soft skills i.e. teamwork, presenting and that you would be a good fit.
