As an audit trainee at BDO, I verify client financial statements, gather evidence, analyse data, and interact with colleagues and clients. I ensure compliance with audit standards, meet deadlines, and maintain confidentiality. I may also work on special audit engagements or process improvement projects.
I have developed skills such as analytical thinking, attention to detail, communication, time management, and teamwork. I have gained knowledge of accounting standards and regulations, as well as industry-specific practices.
It depends on individual preferences. It can be challenging and rewarding to develop skills and gain knowledge in accounting and auditing. However, the workload and deadlines may be demanding at times. Overall, it can be a valuable experience for those interested in a career in auditing.
It is very well organised. Over the course of 4 years I complete 15 exams that go towards the ACA.
Accounting firms give apprenticeship trainees a lot of support, such as training programs, exam prep, study materials, and mentors. They also cover exam fees, offer paid study leave, and provide learning and development opportunities on the job.
All of the exam preparation materials as well as 1-1 support is available through BPP.
By taking the ACA exams, audit trainees can gain a better understanding of accounting, audit, and finacial principles, which they can apply to their work to enhance their performance. The exams also show their commitment to professional development, and can open up new career opportunities.
This depends on the location of the office but employees will organise social activities amongst themselves a lot of the time. Sports and activity teams are also set up, as well as department activities.
