Whilst conducting my nvq I’m gaining new knowledge and skills that I am able to put in to my everyday work life. For instances the ability to understand team members needs and I able to tailor my coaching style to help them progress. I able to support my team as well as the wider area/company in achieving company goals.
The program helps me learn at my own pace and in my own style. Easily set out into modules that are easy to navigate through fleet tasks at a comfortable speed. Along with my coach, if I ever get stuck, I can easily just drop him a message and reply, the next convenient time in order for me to progress.
the online platform is user friendly set out and modules by subject, which is great for learning at your own pace and any different learning styles. The regular chickens with your learning coach help to keep you on track and again will help you with any subjects you’re stuck on or just give you a little nudge when things become stale and you struggle to move forward
I think more can be done to support learners, especially when it comes to off the job hours and hours within your week, especially as I was a quite tight. It would be nice even just for five hours a week to be assigned to each pub with a learner in order for them to really sit down and learn and not cram it all in and they’re off time. However, saying that Marstons as a company really want you to progress and invest a lot of time and money into individuals.
Lifetime Trainer and have been great set aside learning days where we all get together remotely. The calls that happen once a month and just help you stay on track with your modules and boost your knowledge. My coach is always there if I need her and is always supportive and understanding when things happen at work and always tries to find a way to navigate and overcome obstacles with me.
My qualification is helping me to perform better in my role by give me the tools skills and knowledge I’m able to adapt and use in my everyday work. Given me the confidence progress in my career, but also look for other options within hospitality industry, for instance, a training support role.
There is multiple networks that we can take up in as extra curricular activities these are mainly based at St John house in Wolverhampton, recently they’ve set up a women’s networking event also a men’s networking event and lots of other groups that we can all take part in where they meet up regularly.
Yes
Marstons really do believe in growing team members to set out clear guidelines and paths, and always have the information to hand to help others grow at their own pace, and with their own learning styles. They always show you which paths you can take and how to better yourself in the workplace
When applying for Marstons the advice, I’d give to others is the take everything they can give you take all the training to the extra curriculum and take part in the groups really put yourself out there and the reward will be huge. Take yourself out your comfort zone and go for it.
