  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My daily tasks include developing my coding skills by working on tickets, and having a mentor that helps me along the way. I also have daily stand-ups where everyone discusses our achievements from the day before and our goals for today. We also have to ensure that we take part on training days as these are helpful and provide us with more experience for the job

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I've learned many things from working with my mentor, they are very good and the whole team are lovely, from this I've learned a lot in terms of coding, but not only this I believe that my communication skills have developed as well. As the job does require a lot of communication via MS Teams it can be more daunting/intimidating to message someone but don't be!

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I love the programme, I came from 2nd year University, I was not liking the teaching environment at University and thought I would try and get an apprenticeship as this will provide me with the same path to become a software developer but developing my skills through the workplace and get real-life work experience and has been very good for me.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I would say that my programme is organised enough, I am the first software developer apprentice in the team so it was a learning curve for the both of us. They have been very open and and ensure that any training days or anything related to apprenticeships within Sky I that am aware of them. and encourage me to strive and communicate with others. I've had the experience to work with a few teams and get a gauge on what I like and don't like.
