Within my role at Sky, I have rotated across 7 team within Billing. As an apprentice, I shadow qualified specialist and analyst who work together to ensure Sky is billing their customers correctly and that the company are receiving the correct amount back. As a business admin apprentice, common tasks include reconciliation of spreadsheets, teams calls, invoicing and responding to emails.
YES! Within my role at Sky I have gained many skills. Prior to joining the company, I had minimum knowledge and understanding on how to use excel. Within the first 3 weeks I learnt more about the software than what I did at school and can now confidently use excel for work as well as personal use.
I have thoroughly enjoyed my time in my role. I have been able to gain insight into all the billing teams (something may others will never have the chance to do) as well as build relationships and network with people from all over the business. By being able to network with others, i have built relationships that will help me progress within Sky
The overall structure of the programme is very well put together. When joining Sky, there is a induction that all new apprentices go through. This gave me the chance to network with other people at the same level as me. The induction then had quarterly catch ups per annum which meant you could catch up with each other and stay connected. We were given a college day to complete the qualifications and 24/7 support from our allocated team leader who was there for support.
I have received lots of support from my employer over the past 2 years. They are there to help whenever I need it no matter what it is for. They make the effort to set up monthly drop ins to make sure I am getting on okay in my new teams and always offer support
I am completing my qualifications with Forth Valley College and I could not praise them more. From the very start they have been amazing! My tutor Netta has been so supportive from the very start and I have built a really strong relationship with her over the past 2 years.
The college work fits in great with my current role. The college work is a great way to reflect on what |I have been working on in my role and gives me the chance to understand it better. Within my tasks for college, I use examples of what I am doing in work. This makes it easier to talk about as I am not having to make it up.
Yes, Sky are great at hosting social events to bring their colleagues together. Early careers have hosted many for example mini golf, escape rooms and go karting. Within the teams I have been in I have been for many team lunches funded by Sky. Sky do this whenever there is a anniversary of someone who has worked at Sky for 5/10/15+ years
Yes
I would recommend to a friend as they look after their employees. There are loads of fun benefits including 1000+ of discounts to many retailers, free Sky products, discount on Mobiles etc. There is also loads of opportunity to progress within Sky and push your career to the fullest. There is no limit on where you could go.
If I was giving any tips or advise to anyone applying to Sky it would be to just be yourself. It's great having lots of experience and qualifications but Sky want to have great personalities working for them. Don't be afraid to big yourself up and sell yourself.
