Going to site to measure kitchens, design them using CAD software, quote it using our system, deal with stock and product enquiries, greet customers in branch, communicate with customers daily, follow up projects, chase old quotations, deal with both tradesmen and customers.
Enhanced and developed my CAD skills further, developed knowledge in kitchens, appliances, and joinery, attended product seminars/events to enhance knowledge further, developed my surveying and communication skills on site.
A lot! I found the apprenticeship extremely beneficial to my learning and development, and was lucky enough to have a strong team to support me throughout. The apprenticeship allowed me to gain on site experience whilst developing my existing skills, and discuss with other students on my scheme.
The programme itself had a good clear structure throughout, and knowing what was due in advance of my deadlines allowed me to organise my time effectively. The only issue during my scheme was having various mentors throughout, as this often made it complicated who to come to for assistance.
I received a minimal support from Travis Perkins directly, but the support from the training provider made up for it. My in branch team also supported me massively throughout the year.
From the LEAP team directly, I received a lot of help and resources throughout, especially when it came to periods of not having a specific mentor.
The qualification itself has given me the confidence and knowledge to perform to the best of my ability within my role, and the continuous training and support following the apprenticeship has allowed me to continue growing and performing strongly in branch.
As a team, we often go out on social nights out for food and drinks. It's a really great atmosphere with my team both, in and out of branch.
Yes
A good company name with a strong reputation, lots of support from colleagues on both Travis Perkins and Benchmarx, and room for progression.
