I have learned all the skills I need as a trainee that I didn't learn as a full time student. Getting into the working world is the best way to develop skills and help your success in the classroom.
The best decision I have ever made was leaving full time university to undertake a "degree apprenticeship". I enjoy going to work every day and learning new skills whilst being on the Balfour Beatty Early Careers programme.
It's very well organised and structured due to the success and good reputation it gains for individuals and the business. Events such as networking and team building activities with other individuals in the same boat as myself helps gain better workplace relationships and learn more about the role.
I gain a lot of support both financially by them funding the degree for me and also as an employee. I'm fortunate to work in an excellent team on a so far successful project which has helped me gain the right experience and skills to take on responsibilities.
I gain a lot of support due to them funding my education. I also get help with university work I am stuck on which can be a bonus over individuals who are full time students.
It helps through the support you get from individuals in the company who have already got their qualifications.
We have affinity networks which I am involved in, regular socials such as team meals and drinks, football games, networking and the early careers programme which includes team building, problem solving and executive engagement sessions.

It has changed my career for the better and has taught me skills that I never thought I would get the chance to pick up. I recommend it to anyone and everyone who wants to get into succeed in the future of the construction industry.
To pick Balfour Beatty over every other company
