I've gained much confidence as I've developed within role. Better able to communicate with other (internal/ external). Increased construction technical knowledge. Increased understanding and application of contracts. Gained ability to manage construction packages on a given project.
I would say I have started to enjoy my programme within my final years of apprenticeship, due to increased support and opportunities to learn various competencies. Bleakest time of my experience on the programme was through covid-19/ lock down.
Programme is quite organised. I'm made aware about upcoming training and there is a framework so I know what I should be working towards.
I receive a fair amount of support from my employer. Considerably in recent years. During my first year I had a very dedicated line manager who was in tune with my progression and growth. There was however an interim period (changed projects) where this was not quite met. This had then been addressed and I was moved onto a different project.
University AOO offers as much support as they can. In regards to safe guarding issues they will often direct you to third party organisations. I currently receive additional support with assignment planning and well-being via my university.
My qualification helps me to better understand the theory, which I can then apply at work. However, I do prefer to learn practically and with a more hands on approach.
The apprenticeship awards was a good opportunity to socialise with other members across the various cohorts. Work drinks. Charity events. There could however be more extra curricular.
