  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I am a senior manager and I have responsibility for overseeing the strategy of our suppliers that support our customers in financial difficulties. i lead the work to decide the role suppliers will play in delivering our service to customers, and the commercial application of contracts and penalties where aplicable

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have completed a secior leaders apprenticeship in bsuiness adminstration, and through this have learned varios aspects of business skills to broadern and deepen by business acumen, for example straegy and innovation, people leadership, finance and risk. in addition i have been able to build exisiting skills such as coaching and feedback

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • the programme has been hugely enjoyable. i have been able to take time out of my busy role to think more deeply how i can be more effective and efficient in my role and add more value to both customers and my colleagues, which has been very rewarding and chellenging

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • my cohort was the first one to go through this new programme since it changed from the original MBA. there were teething problems and a lot of unknowns in how to progress and pace the programme. hwoever, the university and LBG colleagues supporting the programme were excellent, seeking regular feedback and implementing recommendations to get the programme to be a smooth operation now

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • i have been very supported by my employer. throughout the programme I have had several line managers who have all offered and supported me in differnt ways. in addition there has been a consistent expectation that I take time off my job to completethe apprenticeship, without the need for me to justify my time

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • the support from my training provider was comprehensive. dedicated learning coaches were allocated to each cohort and guided me through the requirments and gateways throughout the qualification. the module experts were always on hand to offer advice and guidance and bring to life the content where needed. and faculty leadership were always on hand tro resolve issues and challenges

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • in my day to day role I have lots of different aspects I consider at pace that has helped me become a better decision maker. more broadly in my role the qualification has given me confidence to think broadly and strategically, taking in lots of information I wouldnt have previously to support strategic decision making

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • within my area we have a culture club that looks at many aspects of enagagement across our business unit including development, ED&I and line managager capability. these are all voluntary activities done in addition to our day to day tasks.in addition there are several social virtual groups to get involved with on our internal social media platform

  • Yes

  • I have worked at LBG for over 25 years now and have had the opporutnitiy to grow and develop my career and skills without having to leave the organisation. i feel incredibly supported and invested in, and feel my employer genuinely cares about my wellbeing and enagagement. I am also immensely proud of the work my employer does to make our organisation inclusive


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Lloyds Banking Group?
  • LBG has an enormous amount of resources and opportunities for every type of person with every type of skill. people need to be open to learning and reach out and take what is on offer, nothing will be mandated, people need to be proactive, so my tip is reach out and grab the opporutnities
