  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role is responsible for ensuring the correct functioning of Sky's Broadband, Talk and Mobile Provisioning platforms. On a day-to-day basis, I am involved in analysing reported faults and issues, and providing solutions, fixing the issues or reporting bugs and defects to our software developers using a range of different skills and tools.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Since joining, my analytical skills have improved immensely. I'm often required to look at a problem with an extremely critical eye and consider all possible causes and solutions. I've also improved my independence and discipline as the role requires a lot of autonomy and self-responsibility to get work done. In addition, my tech skills and knowledge as a whole have improved greatly.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy the programme a lot as I'm able to use my knowledge from the course within the work environment straight away, allowing me to build and improve on the knowledge I'm taking in. I'm able to build on my communication skills working with people both in my team and outside of it, and the work itself exposes me to the world of tech and improves my chances for future opportunities within the field.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • It could be organised better. I was required to change courses with Estio as the first course was not best suited for the work I do within the workplace. The process of changing courses was met with a lot of uncertainty and miscommunication from the company itself. Now on the correct course there still seems to be uncertainty with accessing course materials for me and others on the course.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Support from my employer has been great. I am encouraged to schedule time away from the workplace to complete any work from the training provider/work on any projects. My employer also ensures that I am constantly aware of the help available from them and the rest of my team.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Estio have provided me with a training coach that has been a great help in answering any questions and is always available for me on both Teams and Email for any issues that I have. She has been helpful in clearing up any confusion and providing clear explanations for my questions.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • My job role is quite specific so it is hard to find a programme that is completely suited to the job role, however the course that has been provided helps provide basic skills to improve in my role such as providing the entry-level technical knowledge that I require e.g. the cloud and IT systems.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • My company has regular apprentice and grad events to allow us to get to know other people that are in similar positions in the company. These events allow us to be social and network with one another. Within my office itself, social activities usually consist of pub visits and team lunches.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Sky to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • It's a great company to work for - the benefits (free sky, healthcare, discounts) being one of the main factors. Aside from those benefits, the company itself is very welcoming and the opportunities for career growth and progression are endless. There are also a range of events and employee networks that allow employees to get to know eachother more.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Sky?
  • Be yourself - the person interviewing you could potentially be a member of your team, so showcase both your talent and your personality to show them that you're someone that they would want to work with. Research the company to really prove to yourself and the interviewer why you want to work for Sky in particular.
