Data Analyst Review

My role at EY involves creating bespoke data workflows for the clients of the solutions team, using our data architecture software called Alteryx. On a day-to-day basis this involves communicating and interacting with different resourcing teams and having daily standup calls with the client to discuss progress on the project work and ensuring that feedback is being addressed.

I have learnt how to professionally interact with clients and be a representative of EY and its vision and values. In addition, I have learnt how to manage my time to meet tight deadline in accordance with the work demand. I have developed my critical thinking skills by analyzing automation improvements within my role.

I enjoy my programme to a greater extent. The work culture at my company is very friendly and I can have open discussions with my line manager and colleagues regarding my work and feedback. The programme itself has been developed to give an optimal experience in development and learning by building our foundations before we progress onto bigger teams.

The programme structure takes account our development to provide the best experience. In year one we are taught the foundations of data preparation giving us an understanding of what is done to data when it is received. In year two we gain a wider understanding of the business by working as auditors. In our third year we now get to specialise according to the interests gained in the first two years.

I received adequate support from my employer and there is a wide network of people to get help from. This network includes: assigned buddy, counsellor, university counsellor, Peer Support Group, office network, line manager, current supervisor, and other resources that are online such as FAQs and sharepoint links which have been developed by reviewers.

I also receive adequate support from my training provider when working towards my qualification. My counsellor always helps me to ensure that I am staying on track and that I am well positioned to deliver my assignments by the deadline. The online resources on the hub also help me in doing my research for my assignments.

I believe that it helps me perform in my role to a lesser extent. Most of the learning that I do with my training provider has no relation to my role, for example the module we are currently doing is Scrum and Agile which is not used in the workplace in my team.

There are many extra-curricular activities at my work. We have a lot of networks and communities for example the Muslim network, the mental health network, and the physical wellbeing network. We also have regular socials arranged close to the office that are open to all the employees from my service line.

There is a really good work culture at EY that makes you feel valued. There is a good career and salary progression as you are promoted throughout your apprenticeship and you finish on a good salary as a Qualified Senior. You also have a variety of specialisms to choose from as you progress.
