My role consists of managing our Virtual Business Support Channel for Redken and Pureology. This channel supports Salons across the UK buying direct from either Redken or Pureology. My day to day changes frequently, with some days working on sales analysis for my territory, and other days working with Salons to grow their business.
I have learnt many new skills from both the L'Oreal side and the University side. For the L'Oreal side, I have mostly up skilled in people skills such as communication, team work and networking. On the University side, I have up skilled academically in areas such as critical thinking and analysis.
I have thoroughly enjoyed my programme. Having the chance to earn my degree while working within a company such as L'Oreal has been fantastic. Having the opportunity to meet new people across the organisation and through the degree. Being able to put the theory that is learnt at University into practice within the company has been great.
Currently, the structure of this programme is clear and effective. However during year two the structure had some difficulties due to the provider of the degree changing. Although this caused some confusion for students, it was something that couldn't be avoided and is not the norm for the programme.
The support from the employer is above and beyond. L'Oreal as an organisation have a great attitude towards young professionals, working to ensure that they are comfortable and confident in their role and what they do. They also provide a great level of autonomy for apprentices, allowing us to work on new and exciting initiatives.
The support from the the training provider is good. As mentioned previously, the change in provider made things tricky with the university side, however apart from this the support has been great. Having a mentor for each apprentice is really useful, being able to go to someone with any problems you may have or any support you may require.
I believe that the qualification definitely helps with the role in the organisation. While much of what is learnt at university is very academic such as theory and ideas, these are prevalent in the work side as many of the learnt theories are visible within the organisation. It helps to understand what it is that you are learning better.
There are many opportunities fro extra-curricular activities at L'Oreal. We have the next gen committee that looks to collaborate the apprentices and interns in activities such as socials and sports events. The apprentices and Interns play football once a week which is great fun, and the committee organise social events throughout the year.
Yes
I believe that L'Oreal is an organisation that is perfect for young professionals looking to start their career. Their focus towards young talent is visible, and the opportunities they provide are amazing. Moreover, the organisation is vast, and so the opportunity in what you can do within L'Oreal is far and wide.
My advice would be to ensure that you are passionate about L'Oreal, as the organisation looks for passionate people to join their network of employees. Don't try to be someone you are not, L'Oreal enjoy individuality and diversity, so go in with the attitude of being yourself, and be confident in that.
