At L'Oreal I am a Reward and Benefits Analyst apprentice, which entails the day to day management of the benefits package offered to employees across UK and Ireland. Some key responsibilites include the management of the Rewards Inbox, presenting a 30 minute presentation every month on the new joiner welcome day, managing all benefits reports (around 15 monthly reports).
I have worked at L'Oreal for 1 year and 9 months now, and I have accumulated so many different skills, my skillset is so diverse, I am extremely proficient in excel, data manipulation, public speaking as well as an improved writing style and all round benefits knowledge within the industry.
I absolutely LOVE my degree apprenticeship, it was the best decision I ever made, university or a degree apprenticeship, it should be a no brainer! The workload is considerably manageable and it really forces you to develop your time management skills, not to mention all of the amazing connections I have now made.
This programme is very well organised. I feel very well supported by my team and HR contacts at L'Oreal as well as the team at the University of Kent who work extremely hard to ensure we are well equipped to be able to complete both our profesisional and university work consistently.
I receive plenty of support from my employer on a day to day basis. I have daily one to ones with my direct manager as well as some longer meetings once a week. It is ensured that I take enough time and study leave to complete my university work to a good standard.
Every 3 months I have an hour long call with my university mentor/contact and my direct manager. These calls are fairly helpful and I have also been offered other ways of support through university during my journey depending on home circumstances and personal circumstances that may affect the quality of my work.
I feel that my role and the work covered at university do not overlap too much, around 1 in 5 modules covered at university are then reflected in tasks and projects that i work on during my role at l'oreal. I do however find university helpful in the sense of becoming a professional and ways of working.
Yes there are lots of different employee resource groups across the business that we are able to get involved in focusing on DE&I objectives. Groups also include a netball, football and basketball team as well as an apprentice and intern specific social club called "Next Gen" who often organise events throughout the year.
Yes
I would absolutely recommend L'Oreal to a friend, and already have, on several occassions! The business is very dynamic, fast paced, exciting and constantly innovating, the working environment is exciting and social and there are an amazing range of career opportunities. It is just such an interesting place to work!
It is really important to stand out and BE DIFFERENT, L'oreal is full of exciting, out the box, and daring employees who arent afraid of new ideas, be as innovational as possible and confident too. The application process can be long but it's important to stick to it and try your absolute best in all parts of the process.
