Now a deputy store manager through the apprenticeship. As an apprentice I made sure the day was running smoothly. Interacting and dealing with customers. Cash handling and key holder of the safe. Stock control and ensuring date checking was followed through. I can now open and close the store.
On the apprentice program I had improved my organisational skills and working within a team- in terms of learning to manage a team. I was very shy when I first started but now the apprentice program has helped me communicate better and resolve problems with customers. Problem solving & taking initiative.
I enjoyed it very much. The lifetime trainers were very supportive alongside my managers at Aldi. It has fully allowed me to develop from such a shy and quiet individual to now managing in a fast paced environment and adapt to different experiences.
Very organised and structured. Although it was during the pandemic and restrictions were in place there was very good communication between my trainers and management. I would have a call every few weeks for assignments and what I could learn or further develop at work.
A lot of support. A lot of time was put in to focusing on my training and making a training plan to support the stages I was with the written work. They would always show me something they were running through and give me the opportunity to run the shift.
I recieved so much support. They would always check in with how I was getting on and ask if I needed anything from them or to run over stuff I had already learnt.
Very well. It has truly developed me as a person both inside and outside of work. I am able to confidently run a shift and perform management tasks. I am able to adapt to different situations at work and I am a lot more confident with communication.
Aldi hold stalls at the highland show that individuals can ask to support. You can also join a team of management, store assistants and apprentices to close old stores of aldis into newer and more up to date ones. Gives you time to meet people and learn new skills
Yes
For people that would know me before Aldi. I was very quiet and easily startled. I know am a much more confident individual that has developed all these skills and confidence and I am now climbing up the management ladder. I would highly recommend anyone to join the apprentice program!
Be yourself. Ask lots of questions as I tell the staff in my store there is no harm in asking it’s the way you learn. Don’t put yourself down if you make a mistake, learn from them you will know what to do next time and show others!
