I spend my day outreaching to prospects, managing customer relationships and making sales. I also spend 20% of my time completing course work that goes towards me graduating off of the apprentice. I am also hoping to be a mentor for the next intake of apprentices.
I have learned how to negotiate, manage customer relationships, IT technical knowledge, how to use internal systems like Infor, Power Apps ect. I have also learned how to be independent and gained lots of experience about a real world workplace.
I really enjoy my role, I enjoy engaging with lots of new people, Being trusted by large companies to help make decisions for their IT and day to day business. I love being able to get straight into the business world and be creative with the way I work. I also enjoy the apprentice side of the program where firebrand helps us through course work.
The program is very organised, I have Bi weekly catch us with Firebrand, Twice weekly catch ups with my manager and one with my team. We also get a lot of communication between the two companies and guidance on course work.
I receive as much support as I want, Managers are very well selected and all want to help you out as well as lots of people involved in the L&D team, Apprentice management and firebrand mentors. I also find that due to our relationships with vendors and distributors, they will never hesitate to help me understand anything.
Lots of support, we an submit all of our coursework for review by our mentor and quality control who all use the exam boards mark schemes to predict your grade and give you advice on what you can improve to hit criteria, there is no way you can fail even if you try to.
I think it helps a lot, we get many training trips based on sales and IT knowledge to improve our skills in our day to day role. The instructors are great with 20+ years of industry and sales experience who have given amazing advice which I have used in customer meetings and day to day role.
There is too many to name, we have training events at vendors offices, and in our office. We put on charity events being football games and recently a charity ball at the London Tabaco docks. We also have quarterly events for the end of quarter and yearly kick off events for the whole company, Bus ops and Sales respectively. we also run countless incentive trips, for experiences in the UK and holidays.
Yes
I think not only is it a great place to work, and Softcat creating great opportunities. It is a great way to get into the industry when every other company wants years of experience to get a role. The training is top tear and the only problem with starting at Softcat is how you feel once you try another company. If you ask anyone who has experience at another company they will tell you how above and beyond softcat go for their employees and how great it is here.
Be yourself, Softcat don't just want to see a perfect CV, but your personality. If you have no personality and are just amazing at sales you will not make it past the interview. The culture is a big part of the company and that is a focus for hiring managers on top of being suited for your role.
