My day normally consists of customer meetings, training and internal meetings. I also interact with vendors and learn about market trends and how to effectively sell to customers. I also call into current customers and check what their Network and security infrastructure looks like. I am responsible for managing accounts with the account managers on the technical side.
I have learnt how to effectively handle objections and difficult customers. I have also learnt how to effectively manage my time. I have been developing communication and presentation skills in order to pitch new solutions to customers effectively. I have learnt about IT fundamentals, cloud security, switches and hardware in the network and much more.
I enjoy most aspects because I find the job challenging enough but it is manageable. I enjoy the Firebrand training trips because it is a chance to focus on sales and how to be effective. I enjoy interacting with customers and my peers internally. We get incentivised a lot which is motivating.
It is organised and has structure however it could be more clear, there have been changes but ultimately it benefits us. I feel like I could move at a faster pace with my apprenticeship but it is well structured to ensure criteria and targets are hit. Overall the structure and organisation of the programme is good.
I receive support from my manager and my peers, I am very grateful because they are understanding of my situation and support me accordingly in a professional manner. Firebrand care and ensure that we have what we need and are hitting deadline to ensure we are successful in our apprenticeship.
We receive support in our day to day jobs from Softcat to ensure we are working effectively and to our potential. Firebrand support us in meeting criteria and hitting deadlines to ensure we are working to our full potential. I feel like the others in my intake could use more support but Softcat is open to feedback and open to help.
I feel like the trips to Wyboston training centre were beneficial because some of them were more tailored towards our day to day jobs and we had insight into market trends and the actual sales world outside just Softcat. There are extra parts of the qualification that are not to do with my daily job.
There are loads of networks throughout softcat to get involved in. whether its for charity or social or sport event Softcat has got it. I am part of the SWIB team which is for women in the tech industry which makes me feel listened to and makes me feel included and welcome.
Yes
It is a great place to work due to the social aspects and inclusion. You are given the support necessary if you ask. There is also lots of room for progression which is really beneficial because it keeps you on top of your progression due to reviews to move up in roles.
Only apply if you know that you are ready to work hard and have motivation, it is not easy but it is very rewarding if you work hard. No matter what stage you are in your career It is a great place to come to in order to progress further.
