My role is to open and close the business daily, serve drinks and food to guests, deal with issues regarding anything that has happened either with the site or with a guests issues, I also manage the team on what it is they need to do during their shift, and give them tasks to do.
During the apprenticeship i have gained more confidence in my job role and developed a more understanding of the job that is set out to me, i have also found more details of the simple processes of jobs that i need to do and more experience telling staff what they should do.
I enjoy the programme as it is easy to navigate the app and website and show me what i am missing, the courses on each section make me look deeper into my job role and gives me more knowledge and understanding of what i need to further my career in the business.
The programme is really well structured and gives you details in every section and a time frame of when the course needa to be completed by, if you dont complete it by the time set, you can complete it after it just shows up and late, so if your having trouble understanding one of the questions you don't fail the section if your late answering it.
All my managers above me give me all the support i need, when i need to find some information for a question, they don't give me the answer they show me where i need to go to find it and point me in the correct direction so i can find the answer myself.
My trainer is very helpful, every question i have he helps me and replies to any message quickly, so i can get back to the course, he also checks in and sees how i am getting on both on the course and my own personal well-being and offers help where needed.
The qualification has got me to look deeper into my own personal management skills, it has shown me where i can improve my communication skills with other members of the team, it has also helped me with better knowledge of the job role i am doing and made me more confident.
We currently don't have any extra activities, due to the operational hours and it being hard for all staff members to get the same time off work, we are looking at getting a sports team like a 6 a side team for our site on a weekday so a few members who are interested could join.
Yes
Whitbread look after their staff, in the first covid 19 lock down before the government make the decision of furlough whitbread was going to give all their employees 70% of their wages, but when the government said about the furlough scheme whitbread gave every employee 100% pay for the first lock down.
I would tell people to never be afraid to ask questions, whitbread employees have alot of loyalty to their own site, alot of sites have staff members with 15+ years service, so they understand what its like when starting a new job, so my advice would be never be afraid to ask something if you are struggling. We are more than a team alot of us especially at my site are like a family.
