Internal audit work: meeting clients and conducting testing on financial institutions and businesses to assess their ability to deal with and monitor risk.
I was entirely new to finance and audit so everything I have learnt has been entirely new. This has included the methodology for internal audit and developed soft skills.
I enjoy it for the most part, the work can be tedious at times but the atmosphere and community is excellent.
Relatively well structured, with lots of opportunity to gain experience elsewhere and get a taste for the wider industry.
Support is exceptional and I feel that I could go to any number of people if I had any issues and be open and honest and my experience would be respected and dealt with personally.
A lot of support comes from BPP, especially in regard to exam prep with ample amounts of papers to practice and self-assessment methods.
My qualification doesn't particularly relate to the work, although the assurance module did have some relevant content.
There are a huge amount of networks and sports activities to engage in at the firm, although I cannot speak on their quality as I did not join while settling into the area.
Yes
Especially for a first workplace, I feel that it has the right balance of socialisation, training, and on the job experience whilst retaining a relaxed atmosphere that feels best for my development.
Research the role thoroughly and have an understanding of the markets you will be working in/with.
