My role is split into training, study and then general work. On training days i will either be in class rooms learning technical knowledge, or via an online classroom learning soft skills and some technical content When working i will start my day by checking my juniors know what they are up to and then get on with client work
Yes, The main skill i have managed to develop is my excel skills through both learning from my seniors and peers. I have also increased my financial literacy and competence. I have also developed my inter personal skills and the ability to vary my communication between casual conversation with colleagues and formal communication with clients
I very much enjoy the programme. It has offered me a suitable alternative to university whilst still providing me the same level of qualification. I enjoy working with an array of clients across various sectors. I also enjoy the work life balance offered by hybrid working, though studying and working can be taxing
The national training team could do with some improvement, however BPP the external provider are great and always on hand to help. The programme has a clear 4 year programme which steps up in difficulty over the course of the apprenticeship ensuring i am constantly progressing and learning and developing new skills
There is a good amonut of support provided. The local peers ensure that i learn on the job well and the local culture involves a lot of learning and my senior colleagues always help and develop the team. It would be better to get more study leave towards exams and also more general training on skills
The in person learning is great and all tutors are well prepped. Sometimes, the online learning is of a low standard and rushed videos which dont go into detail or explain the concepts carefully. We have a good set of course notes provided by our provider but if we had better question practice early on it would be better
The qualification provides the technical background required for my role. The exams are the foundation of accounting and are the basis of my day to day work. The exams also increase in difficulty in line with the activities I have performed. The exams start with core knowledge and then expand into an advisory role
For work, i am part of the Mazars Young Audit Commitee. This is where there is 1 representative from each office who work together to tackle issues facing the junior staff members. We work across areas such as work socials, quality of work, new joiner onboarding and work closely with other members of the team to implement change
Yes
I think Mazars is a great foundation for a new starter, given our friendly culture and also the work life balance. Mazars blends together a range of innovative practices to ensure that staff are happy and able to peform to the best of their ability. There is also plenty of variation allowing you to switch roles if needed
I would research the different service lines we have available as well as the offices so you can really tailor your career to what you are after. I would research the company values and also generally about Mazars on the website so you have good knowledge which you can demostrate in your application process
