I am an auditor and work for Mazars LLP in the Bristol office. On a daily basis I test clients balances in their accounts to ensure that their financial statements are a true and fair representation of what the claim to be. I work in teams of 3-8 people on a normal basis in a hybrid working environment.
I have developed lots of new and existing skills - in particular analysis and communication. I have learnt to communicate with senior members of the team and junior members of the team when leading a job. In addition, my analysis skills have improved as I have had to review and sign off junior members of the teams work.
I thoroughly enjoy my programme as I have learnt a lot of new skills and been able to network and communicate with many other team members across the UK. In addition, I am learning on the job, completing an apprenticeship and getting paid at the same time - an ideal job!
My programme is quite organised and structured. This is because we have an online rota/calendar which shows which jobs/clients I am working on in each week. In addition, my study time is also allocated to my calendar so it is easy to focus my time and have the separation between study and work time.
My employer is quite supportive when it comes to deferring exams and study courses which is extremely helpful. However Mazars has a tuition provider which is outsourced so the majority of my queries or concerns are sent to the training provider directly - I copy my line manager into all communications.
My training provider is very supportive with exams, materials and study courses. Personal tutors are allocate to each member of the team. The tutors are very supportive and help you develop your career. In addition, there is a performance support team which you can contact whenever if you need additional support or if you have any queries.
My qualification helps me quite a lot in my day to day role as an auditor. This relates specifically to accounting frameworks and the auditing exam which I sat. In addition, my tuition provider books me onto workshops and courses which assist me with specific audit testing which I have to complete as part of my role.
At Mazars, we take part in a large amount of extra curricular activities. In the Bristol office we usually have an official and a non official social. An official social is whereby the firm pays for the activity and the non official activity is whereby as employees we pay for the event ourselves if we wish to attend. Examples of official socials include bowling, ninja warrior UK, Boat Party (in the summer), comedy clubs etc.
Yes
I would strongly recommend Mazars to my friends and I have. Mazars offer an employee referral bonus scheme whereby if you refer a friend, you will receive bonuses from £1000-£5000 per employee with no limit. I have made use of this scheme. Mazars is an excellent employer who cares about their employees and has an excellent work-life balance.
I would ensure that employees are familiar with the company from the website and key roles/responsibilities expected of you in a job role that you apply for. I would also encourage employees to be confident and ask questions as this is the best way to find out about life at Mazars and whether you are interested in the role.
