My role includes testing and commissioning the systems on submarines that will one day be operated by the Royal Navy.
I have learnt many skills whilst on the apprenticeship, such as communication, strategic vision, adaptability and courage.
I thoroughly enjoy being an apprentice at BAE systems as I feel I am treated as an equal, and have the opportunity to make a difference to the company.
My programme is well structured, with lots of support from both the company and my training provider and the college.
I receive a lot of support in the form of drop-in sessions and catch ups, and i know there are processes put in place by the early careers team should I need any specific support.
Quite a lot. If there is not a lot going on with regard to work, they are more than happy to let me get on with any work that will be required for obtaining my qualification.
My degree as a nuclear engineer will help a lot with reactor testing on the submarines, and also teaches the basics of engineering which can be applied on the whole to my job.
There are plenty of events set up by early careers and the local higher apprentice council with regard to social time such as nights out and forums.

I believe that if you want to reach a position in this company, they provide the steps and building blocks for you to get there. The window of opportunity is massive.
Make sure that you express a genuine interest in both the company and the role you are applying for. True enthusiasm and a drive to learn will be the defining factor in your success, and will be more important to the company than initial engineering knowledge.
