On a day to day basis, I work closely with project managers and other stakeholders to keep them informed of the performance of their project. This is presented back to senior members of the team on a quarterly cycle. Ad hoc tasks are also completed: accruals, variance analysis etc.
Developed my analysing skills, now identifying when numbers look unusual, and being able to identify reasons behind these variances. Confidence has developed, with presenting.
I rotate around areas of finance on a yearly basis, overall experiencing 5 different teams. I have thoroughly enjoyed this opportunity as it has allowed me to identify areas of finance that i enjoy, over ones that i have not. It has pushed me outside my comfort zone.
Extremely well structured, with frequent reviews with my apprentice lead. I have points of contact across many of the sites, if I was to ever have any issues. Study provider, Kaplan, is very well structured and provides a lot of assistance if required. No complaints on this.
Outstanding level of support. Occasionally struggling with the balance of work and study, my managers have always been very supportive, adapting work load and study if required. Have provided me with great opportunities, always extremely supportive of so.
Great support - all my tutors have been very supportive, providing extra support if required. Cannot think of a negative experience with a tutor. All work hard to make sessions inclusive, and involve all.
With rotating around the different parts of finance, it has been easier to learn certain areas with the background knowledge from my studies. Vice versa, the working side has also assisted with my studies.
Yes, often provide social activities such as finance conferences, early career conferences, football on a Thursday evening. I have also been invited to the US site for an awards evening.
Yes
The support is one of the biggest perks. Everyone I have worked with has always felt they want me to do my best. The opportunities offered are also endless. They offer a lot of flexibility within roles, and this helps with studying alongside.
Be ready to network, and work outside finance. I have learnt most of my knowledge from working with those outside finance. Push yourself outside your comfort zone. Try the teams you do not think you will enjoy - and you will surprise yourself.
