I am a supply chain apprentice. I am responsible for managing an orderbook in which i attend weekly calls with different people from different areas of the business to discus any queries that i have on my orderbook. I interact with customers externally from the business to discus queries either of us may have regarding the customers orders.
General email etiquette- how to put a professional email together and how much detail i need to add IT skills- all of my daily tasks require me to use excel spreadsheets and different IT systems, when i first started it took me a while to grasp the IT side of things, seven months down the line and i am very confident with using the different IT processes and excel
I really enjoy this programme, i have enjoyed the two placements i have been in i have really liked and the work has kept me very busy. I am only seven months in and i feel that i have learnt so much in this space of time and have met so many different people from different parts of the business
It is very structured as we have two learning days per month. We also have calls twice a month with our apprentice tutor where she provides us with any updates of what's going on or what we need to do. I feel that we receive updates quite frequently to keep us in the loop
There is lots of support if we need anything or anyone to talk to about our concerns. There are lots of people we can go to for support around the business that are approachable and are willing to help and listen. Any support is given regardless if its work related or not.
the supply chain academy provides lots of help if there is any needed and are available to do extra sessions with us if there is something we are struggling with or don't understand. We also receive detailed feedback from our assignments which help us to make improvements and it also gives us advice on what we could do to make it better
It gives me a better understanding of why we need to do certain processes within the work place in my placement. The learning is a good back bone and we can put the theory we learn in our learning days into practice when in our placements. Our college learning links a lot to the defence sector which is good as it relates it to what we actually do as a business
Yes there are lots. So far i have been involved in career events- talking to people about the scheme who are thinking of applying. I have been to an apprentice networking day, where i have met and spoke to apprentices from different schemes. Our scheme also does a social activity every month where we meet outside of work
Yes
It is a really good company to work for with amazing opportunities to grow and develop yourself. It is a really nice environment to work in and all the employees are really nice and supportive. There are opportunities to travel and meet different people from different places in the World.
Apply for something that you are interested, and don't just apply for something for the sake of it, you need to be passionate about what you are applying for. Be yourself and show to the business how much you want the role ( i applied twice before actually getting the role so dont give up)
