As a shift manager my role is ensure operations are running smoothly, all equipment is working, aswell as having enough stock thoroughout the shift. Managing the shift requires managing my employees, that they have the right training to do thier jon roles, they are working in a health and safety environment, and that they feel supported. If anything becomes an issue i need to react accordingly in a proffesional manner whether that be staff no showijg so need to arrange cover, if theres a system issue following up with I.T call and managing the shift so we can hit out targets and goals.
I have learnt to become more analytical and think of the bigger picture of the business beyond my shift. How my shift affects costs, labour and operation targets. Iv thought of ways to become more effecient and cost effecting.
I am enjoying my course very much and being apply to apply my new knowledge and skills at work.
The course/programme layout is a friendly interactive service, easy to use and manage. I am able to see where i am at, what i still need to do and able to arrange meetings and message my tutor easily. The interactive online service is excellant especially as all my work is on 1 place and easily accessible.
I get regular support by having regular meetings to check in with me to see how i am going and if i need an supoort and set targets to achieve by next meeting to keep me focused and on track.
My trainer attends regular meetings with myself to support me with anything i sidnt understand on past modules, helps me set up what i am going to achieve next and makes sure i have the support i need to be able to achieve those modules.
I feel i have improved greatly since starting my course. I am more aware of our store operations and systems. When before was mainly just focused on customer satisfaction and cleanliness.
We have a storw football team, we do variety of events to raise money for our charity and our business manager arranges manager meet ups outsode of work aswell as store parties.
